Hi! Welcome to the blog of the training we are putting toward running the Boston Marathon. Who are we? We're Sara, a two-time marathon runner with questionable training habits, and Katie, a 2004 marathon participant, out to make it past mile 11 this time.

The Cons

·      Volunteer in Hopkinton treating her post guarding the corrals like lockdown 7

·      Trying to check in—glare was the worst (makes me understand the Kindle v. ipad debate)

·      The fake “Welcome to Brookline” at mile 2

·      Not seeing Katy and Matt at mile 5

·      The lull in Natick where there is a lake on the right and no spectators on the left

·      Pounding feet and legs (and subsequent numb big toe today)

·      Feeling blisters develop

·      Jellybeans from a spectator (gross!)

·      Gatorade making the road all sticky at every water station (that’s what killed our time)

·      Super absorbent legs that won’t sop up Vaseline

·      The anticipation of Heartbreak Hill

·      Heartbreak Hill.

·      Surprise knee pain

·      Walking down stairs

·      Walking in general

·      Stomach pain from too much candy
